I am currently in a bible study with some sweet high school gals and I've been learning so much. We're really digging deep and evaluating where we place our love and where we spend our time. We're learning how to deal with obsessions in our life in order to place Jesus above them all. I so often waste time scrolling through some kind of social media, or finding something on Netflix that grabs my attention. Or just "wandering" around the internet. I want to start being more intentional with my time. I have been neglecting my ministry here and that makes me sad. I KNOW KNOW KNOW that God wants me right here in this place. He's doing such a work in my life and in the lives of you gals and I know the Lord isn't finished. Here are a few personal goals that I'm setting this month to help me out with my time management problems.
1. No social media before my quiet time or after 9:00. I had gotten into a bad habit of scrolling through Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook right after my alarm went off in the morning. It was the VERY FIRST thing I thought about every morning. The Lord has really convicted me of this. This past week I decided that I would do my quiet time before ever touching my phone. I have been feeling much more focused as I begin my quiet time and I know it is because I'm not filling my brain with so many competing thoughts first thing in the morning. At night it is easy for my bedtime to sneak up on me because I've gotten carried away on pinterest. Now, I am going to cut myself off at 9:00 PM so that I can get ready for bed and Skype Ty without thinking of my nighttime to do list!
during our nightly sykpe date and devotional time
2. I will do at least one chore a day. I used to try to stick to a cleaning schedule, but that just doesn't fit my lifestyle right now. I know some of you are probably way busier than me and keep up with it all, but I'm still learning. ;) Some nights I'm barely home at all or getting home in just enough time to play with the pups before heading to bed. If I stick to doing at least one chore a day I won't be so overwhelmed come Thursday night and Friday afternoon!
3. I will read a book! This may seem like a silly goal, but I want to replace all my social media time with things that could help me instead of just distract me. I never finished The Circle Maker this summer so I'm planning on starting that ASAP!
I feel like I'm a goal making machine this month. Ha! Truly, I think it will make a difference in my life. Okay... so I said Tuesday that I would post a couple of fall bucket list ideas on Wednesday... um... how does next Monday sound? I'll try to follow through this time. ;) Happy weekend-ing, friends! I hope it's a sweet one!
