I got to Nashville around 7:30 so we just went and grabbed a quick dinner and then looked around Home Goods (his idea!) before heading back to his "home". I really loved seeing where he spends his week days. It helped me to get a clear picture of where he is during the week and it just comforted me somehow.
Saturday morning I SLEPT IN (haven't in years!) and then we went and strolled around Franklin for the day. If you've never been to Franklin, Tennessee... I'm sorry! It's one of the CUTEST little towns I've ever seen. Downtown is filled with lots of cute shops and restaurants and it just has the sweetest feel.
After we had lunch and I threw a little fit because I left my ID in Mississippi (worst moment of the trip-sorry babe) we went a couple of miles down the road to a little festival called "Barktoberfest". These dog people were IN HEAVEN. It was the cutest sight ever. A bunch of pups dressed up in Halloween costumes with their humans. It was just too much. We got a couple of treats for our babies and headed back to the hotel to hang out before dinner.
Let's talk about dinner. It was probably the WORST night we've had in a while. Haha! Just bein' honest. Everything seemed to go wrong and we basically chased our tails for two hours before landing back at a little restaurant half a mile from our hotel. Did you know I can get in a bad mood when I'm hungry? It wasn't one of my finest moments. However, we survived and had a chance to visit the restaurant we were dying to try on Sunday afternoon!
We heard that a burger place called The Pharmacy was a place we didn't want to miss. After not wanting to wait almost two hours on Saturday night we tried our luck on Sunday afternoon. We were quite happy with a fifteen minute wait!
Real life: I am trying to learn how to shoot in manual. At the restaurant. Tyler is less than amused. Which means I end up just getting one blurry photo. MARRIAGE.
"Practice on the coke." Um... looks like I need more practice?
This was legit. The burger was awesome and the sweet potato fries were REALLY awesome.
And this Pharmacy cream soda was really REALLY awesome!
It was a great atmosphere and I wish I would be back in Nashville this Fall because I would definitely go back again and again just to sit on the patio.
After lunch we headed to another little part of Nashville so that I could try on some new glasses (I have some sweet Warby Parker glasses coming my way!) and almost next door was an ice cream place I had heard raves about. Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream was splendid indeed. It was literally the best ice cream I've ever put in my mouth. I could've had a scoop of every.single.flavor.
I had the brambleberry crisp and the loveless biscuit and peach jam. OHMYGOSH. My mouth is watering as I type. I could live off of this ice cream.
THEN we did a little "shopping", but we held off on the buying. THEN we decided to just go ahead and visit the vineyard I had been wanting to check out.
We had a Sunday Funday, I tell ya!
It was a gorgeous evening at Arrington Vineyards. There were groups of families and friends all over the grounds just enjoying the beautiful weather. It was really sweet to see families playing together. It got us talking about our own kids... who are years away.
It was just a really, really sweet day. We had a good time doing new things and just hanging out together without the "everyday" type of distractions we have when we're home.
Monday was a pretty low key day. We did a little bit of shopping before grabbing a movie and getting comfy on his pull out couch! Ha! Later on we grabbed dinner and went back to that same spot. It was a successful day off from school for this teacher!
I'm ready to get back in the classroom and get things done so that I can be ready to enjoy Ty's birthday weekend! With his new company his birthday is a holiday so he will have an extra day at home next Monday. I decided to ask for the day off so I will get to enjoy his birthday with him! Little things like that really bless me.
Let's rock these next three days, y'all!
